popping..
I’ve been seeing the ad of this website for quite sometime and I didn’t really pay much attention. Don’t know why all of the sudden I decided to check it out.
The concept is intriguing enough that after a quick read, I wanted to be a part of it! The idea is to collect a list of 1 million blogs. It is an experiment knowing that according to Technorati, there are 70,000,000 blogs in existence and growing every day, perhaps every minute!
The real challenge for this website however is HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE them to reach the 1 millionth blog! I just finished listed mine and I’m on number 1,838. It seems they are a ways to go but my guess is that it would take them years and years to reach the million blog mark.
The website was conceived April 10th, 2008. It took me over two months to find it. If they average out about a thousand mark every month, then it will only be 12,000 blogs in one year. A million divided by 12,000- you get an outrageous time frame and we’ll all probably be dead to see it reach the millionth mark basing it on their current rate!
Nonetheless, given that right now there are millions of blogs on the internet, if they could double or triple their goal every month, maybe we can see the day they reach 1 million blogs. I’m listing my other blogs to it so that should help ad up.
Are you up for the ‘game’ or you think this is too impossible to accomplish that it’s futile to join? What’s your take?

Hmm, interesting. I signed up too, and I’m #1851
That’s just one of my blogs. I currently have approximately eight, and that doesn’t count the social networking ones. Hehe.
It can work. Spread the word!
Wow, if you add all your 8 blogs that should help. LOL Realistically though, it is slow moving… I checked again and they have not reached the 2,000 mark and it’s now July! We’ll see…
Thanks for stopping by. See you on your site!
They should reach it in no time if they just did it on their own I think instead of waiting for people to sign up. If only they could qualify blogs- I mean, do all the ones that are already “dead” still count?
Hi Bog2u: well, if they did it on their own, kinda defeats the purpose of their challenge right? to find out how long it would take to get 1 million blogs listed.
Besides that, then nobody would go visit their website other than to check if they’re listed or not- if they are then they’d move on; if they’re not, then they’ll probably get mad for NOT being on the million list!
Remember there are 70million blogs- how do you pick just one million?
You have a good point on the “dead” links. does it count? it would mess up their counting if they remove it and as it is, it is a pain editing and checking each one if the blog is legit or purely spam.
Thanks for raising some thoughts! Hope to see you again.
how do you get on the million blog list?
hi tammy! joining is very easy. they let us key in and edit our own information like a Wiki. please visit their website and look for “List Navigation.” in it there’s New Blogs. click on that and then click EDIT. go to the very end and just follow the last person’s info by cutting and pasting and changing it with your own url and info and don’t forget to change the number too! hope that works out for you.
thanks for visiting!
