I am happy to hear that you still call the Philippines your home. :-) Indeed, the reasons we go ‘home’ to the people we love and choose to live with them are both economic and emotional. There is a sense of security in being close to the people we love.

My reason for staying away from my family is independent streak. ;-) But like you, I keep going ‘home’ to them — to get my fill to last me for two months… then I’m back again.

Family will always be a core in the Filipino life. To me, that’s a good thing. :-)
